NPIN 18662: This curriculum addresses the need for AIDS education programs for people for whom English is not their primary language. It provides 5 hours of AIDS education instruction, and contains 5 lessons with more than 20 classroom tested AIDS education/language skills development exercises for high-school- aged and young adult students of English as a second language (ESL). It helps them: 1) develop English language skills as it helps them understand AIDS risk factors 2) develop skills to cope with social pressures; and 3) make decisions that will preserve their health. Each lesson incorporates AIDS education and ESL program elements. Background materials, exercises and activities are provided for each lesson.
